Women’s History – Passages & Biography Project – 2nd-5th Grade

⭐️ Are you looking for the perfect way to teach your students about Women’s history through the stories of inspirational figures? How about a Women’s History Month project that incorporates social studies, reading, writing, and critical thinking skills? This Women’s History Passages & Biography Project is the perfect way for your students to learn about influential people in Women’s History while practicing and developing key skills. Students read passages about important people in Women’s history and then use the included templates and anchor charts to create a biography poster. Also includes a quote analysis activity that can be added to the biography as an extension.

⭐️ This resource contains 14 biography passages. Each passage is differentiated on three certified Lexile levels to cover readers from 2nd to 5th grade. Each passage set has reading comprehension questions and an integrated color-coding text evidence strategy that helps students use the text to answer questions. Biographical subjects include a wide range of people from history and the present, including Marie Curie, Gloria Steinem, Malala Yousafzai, Anne Frank, Frida Kahlo, and more.

⭐️ After reading and responding to comprehension questions, students will select one Women’s history figure and use the included writing anchor charts to complete their biography poster. The students can present their posters to teach their classmates, integrating writing, speaking, and listening standards.
