Reducing Human Impact Digital Science Activity 5th Grade NGSS 5-ESS3-1

In this Reducing Human Impact Digital Science Mini Lesson and Activity, students will learn to obtain and combine information about ways individual communities use science ideas to protect the Earth’s resources and environment. Aligned to NGSS 5-ESS3-1, this interactive digital resource introduces students to key science vocabulary, builds background knowledge, develops deeper understanding, and assesses learning.

Students begin by reviewing Tier 3 Academic Vocabulary, then watch a short, engaging custom video that clearly explains Reducing Human Impact.

Next, in an interactive activity. Students will pick a sustainability based cause that they care about and use what they’ve learned about human impact on the environment by answering related questions.

The activity concludes with a short quiz about reducing human impact, so students can test what they’ve learned.
