Mother’s Day is coming up. It wasn’t until I was a mother to my two kiddos that I realized how much moms cherish the little Mother’s Day crafts kids make in school. Many crafts are geared towards preschool and lower elementary, so I thought I would share some of my favorite Mother’s Day gift ideas for second grade and up.

Mother’s Day Gift Idea #1: Mother’s Day Flipbook

Have your students create a Mother’s Day flip book for mom! Print the template, then have your students add their own illustrations or words. This is a great activity to practice following directions. Your students are sure to have fun decorating and assembling the book as well!

Mother’s Day Gift Idea #2: Shrinky Dink Art

Give students a sheet of Shrinky dink paper, and have your students use their creativity to decorate a charm for mom. They can use their handprint, draw a picture of themselves with their mom, or even write a short note or letter for mom to keep.

Mother’s Day Gift Idea #3: Mother’s Day Favor Bouquet

Have your students create a paper flower bouquet with favors or chores they will help mom with. They can offer to do simple things like clean up a mess, take out the trash, or take care of a pet. Let students write their own ideas in the flower center, color the flowers, arrange them on green straws or pipe cleaners, and place them in a pot or bucket from the dollar store.

Spending just a few minutes with your students on one of these projects can make moms happy, but it can also make students happy and excited about sharing their gifts. These Mother’s Day crafts are sure to be fun for your students to create and fun for moms to cherish.
