Reasons & Evidence Support Author’s Point Earth Day Reading Escape Room 2nd 3rd

Reasons & Evidence Support Author’s Point Earth Day – 2nd & 3rd Grade

⭐ This no-prep save the planet Earth Day themed reading comprehension escape room is perfect for practicing how authors use reasons and evidence to support points. 2nd & 3rd grade students work through standard aligned reading comprehension challenges as they navigate a post-apocalyptic Earth and collect resources to help save the planet for Earth Day.

“Let’s save our future! File an exposé on the state of the planet, and report where we went wrong. Hopefully, the people who see it will be able to avoid the mistakes that made this future considerably less bright. Along your journey, you will collect objects to show all you’ve learned.”

♻️ To save the planet, students must complete four unique challenges. Each challenge contains a set of reading comprehension prompts that must be solved to continue. Students unlock secret codes that help them complete each challenge as they earn their “Earth Protector” certificate.

This activity aligns with RI.2.6 and RI.3.6, but can be used in any classroom to develop the following skills:

✅ Identify the Main Purpose of a Text

✅ Identify the Author’s Main Point

✅ Identify the Evidence that Supports the Author’s Main Point

✅ Use Text Evidence to Support the Author’s Main Point

✅ Read a Multi-Paragraph Text to Practice how Reasons Support an Author’s Point
