Students will learn about the history of St. Patrick’s Day and the Legend of the Leprechaun, explore the geography and architecture of Ireland, as well as experience Irish culture through music, food, and dance. This virtual field trip in Google Slides & Seesaw contains video links, images, reading passages, exercises, writing activities, and more.

 

⭐️This resource integrates a variety of social studies, STEAM, and reading skills. Students also complete reading and writing assignments along with watching videos and completing thought-provoking exercises. Incorporates key reading comprehension, writing, multimedia, interdisciplinary studies, and other skills.

 

2. Leprechaun Tricks Gameboard Project Based Learning

 

⭐Leprechaun tricks is a create a board game project based learning created for 2nd grade students. The activities included will provide your students with math practice in an engaging way. This resource contains a standards-based unit in printable PDF. Students will be reviewing one and two-step word problems and create their own to complete a game board!

 

⭐ This project-based learning task involves using 2nd grade math standards to solve problems related to creating a game board.

 

Standards Addressed:

  • 2.OA.A.1 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
  • 2.NBT.B.5 Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
  • 2.NBT.B.7 Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds.

 

3. St. Patrick’s Day Reading Escape Room & Webscape™

 

⭐ This 2nd and 3rd grade St. Patrick’s Day reading comprehension escape room is a truly immersive experience. Students read passages and answer skill-based questions to make like a leprechaun and fill their closet with green garments. In this escape room, students are asked to complete four unique challenges. Each challenge requires students to read passages and answer multiple choice questions. Students add their answers to the Decoder Tool and complete each challenge to successfully complete all the challenges and avoid a pinch!

 

⭐ This reading comprehension review escape room comes in digital and print formats.

  • Google Format – Students complete the exercises in Google Slides. The Leprechaun Decoder is a Google Sheet that self-corrects and tells each student when they can continue to the next challenge.

 

  • Printable Format – Students can use any device to scan QR codes to watch the videos. If no device is available, students can skip the videos and still enjoy the exercise. Students use a printable Leprechaun Decoder and answer sheet to decipher the clues and track their answers.

4. Lucky’s Map St Patrick’s Day Escape Room & Webscape™ – 2nd Grade Math Review

 

⭐ This 2nd grade math escape room is a truly immersive experience and themed perfectly for St. Patrick’s Day! Students navigate their way out of a dungeon in Blarney Castle where they have been trapped for stealing Lucky the Leprechaun’s gold coins. To escape, students complete four unique math standards-based challenges. The challenges require students to practice addition, subtraction, money problems, and telling time. Students add their answers to the St. Patrick’s Day Magical Decoding Tool to help them unlock the secret codes and complete each challenge.
