Place Value – 5th Grade Math Video Game Escape Room – Digital & Printable

Description

Place Value – 5th Grade Math Video Game Escape Room

⭐ This place value “video game” math escape room for 5th grade is a truly immersive experience! Students will compete in the VR Game Builder Academy to teach the students how to build a game that could be the next big hit. To complete these challenges students work through four math problem sets where they:

  • Recognize that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what it represents in the place to its left. (5.NBT.A.1)
  • Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10. (5.NBT.A.2)
  • Read, write, and compare decimals to thousandths. (5.NBT.A.3)
  • Use place value understanding to round decimals to any place. (5.NBT.A.4)

Students add their answers to the Video Game Decoder Tool to help them unlock the secret codes and complete each challenge. This resource is highly engaging and a low prep activity with printable and digital formats both included!

⭐Comes in both digital Google Slides and printable formats, so it’s perfect for classroom and distance learning. In the digital format, the Video Game Decoder Tool is a Google Sheet that self-corrects and tells each student when they can continue to the next challenge.

⭐ Integrated videos, thematic items, and a storyline come together to engage students while developing, enforcing, and reviewing place value.
