This activity is loads of fun. It helps clear up misconceptions about Dia de los Muertos, teaches culture, and gives the students an opportunity to create their own artifacts. Parents appreciate it because their students come home with what amounts to a portfolio for this topic. It is also easy to differentiate for grade levels and skills. With what we learned in this lesson, my students have created annual ofrendas for display at our school’s culture night, which coincided with the end of October and the beginning of November. I have former students who still want to participate even though they have moved on to a higher grade. highly recommend it!
