  48. Anne S. –

In our third grade we read the texts: The Congress of the United States and The Constitution of the United States. Throughout the year I try to keep alive the notions of citizenry and how lucky we are to live in the U.S. (without being political, etc) but also how amazingly elastic our Constitution is-the founding fathers were truly amazing. I really try to encourage students to visit Washington, DC when they are able to (some will go with family but for others I am planting a seed so they’ll go someday on their own). These slides serve two purposes for me: keeping alive the concepts that we have studied and also serving as a basis for a discussion about the significance of Memorial Day. The photos help the kids to see how truly amazing (beautiful and huge) Arlington National Cemetary is. I remind the kids when they go that they have to be quiet and respectful. This is an excellent resource. How about a photo resource of all the monuments and museums in DC so we can take a virtual field trip?

  49. Cari S. –

  50. Geiger’s Gems –
